A worked course for CON4334. Begin with the short foundations lessons, learn a method with the original diagram beside you, then close the answer and solve a changed question. Every calculation uses the supplied course notation and tables.

- Rebuild the essentials: units, algebra and equilibrium. Work the self-checks on paper before revealing the answers.
- Learn bolted and welded connections. Distinguish in-plane torsion from out-of-plane tension.
- Follow the load from slab to beam. Learn tributary width, reactions, bending, shear and deflection.
- Work through the first fully restrained beam. Explain why each formula applies before using it.
- Learn column buckling and combined forces. Keep section checks separate from member checks.
- Attempt independent practice and unfamiliar variants. Use hints only after a genuine attempt.
- Revise the procedures, then sit the timed mock. Record the cause of each error, not just the correct number.
What the supplied papers actually assess
Both supplied papers allow 2 hours. Section A is a compulsory 40-mark floor-beam question with a short theory part. Section B offers three 30-mark questions: connections, columns and beams with lateral-torsional buckling. Answer any two. Each paper therefore offers 130 marks but requires 100 marks of answers.
